Propósito del curso:

Fortalecer capacidades en los países de la región para elaborar estrategias de comunicación de riesgos en salud pública que puedan formar parte de los planes nacionales de gestión del riesgo.

Objetivo general:

En el marco del fortalecimiento de capacidades para la implementación del Reglamento Sanitario Internacional, este curso de autoaprendizaje permitirá a los participantes, de habla hispana e inglesa, adquirir conocimientos y habilidades para la elaboración de estrategias de comunicación de riesgo en salud pública.

General objective:

Within the capacity-building framework for implementation of the International Health Regulations, this self-paced course will help the English- and Spanish-speaking participants to acquire knowledge and skills for developing risk communication strategies for public health.

Learning objectives:

Upon finishing the course, participants should be able to:

  • Design risk communication strategies using a risk map to analyze the local context and systematically incorporating lessons learned.
  • Understand the importance of risk perceptions and other relevant risk communication concepts and incorporate these in the design of effective strategies and in adjustments according to the local context.
  • Identify monitoring and evaluation activities appropriate for the interventions and communication processes in the risk communication strategy.
  • Understand the important steps for communicating effectively with the internal and external target audiences, including partners, stakeholders, the media, online social networks, health personnel and the public.
